Carers Resource & Mind launch a new service for carers in Whitby and Ryedale

Good news…We’ve launched a new kind of service to carers in conjunction with Scarborough, Whitby & Ryedale Mind.

North Yorkshire County Council, Health & Adult Services have provided some funding to support carers in Whitby and Ryedale who need help with the more practical aspects of life or just some moral support to help them on their way.

Some carers lose confidence in socialising and many struggle to make time for themselves. We regularly meet carers who are stressed, tired and lack motivation to do things. We can’t always provide the help that’s needed as there are so many other carers requesting our help too. Mind and Carers Resource recognised this and decided to work together to offer solutions.

Mind will be recruiting and training volunteers to work with carers who need support in getting out and about, looking after themselves and socialising. This could be anything from sorting the mountain of paperwork that has accumulated, attending appointments, walking the family dog together, accompanying to a support group or attending an evening class.

We will help you think about the type of help you need and work with Mind to ‘match’ you up with the right volunteer. Carers Resource will also be involved in training the volunteers around carers’ issues.

If you’re interested in volunteering for the project, give Mind a call - they’d be very happy to hear from you - 01723 588 008
