Changing Lives

The Changing Lives project is back!

changing lives

Are you a carer of working age who is thinking about going back to work or taking up a course? Do you want to talk about work or learning with someone who understands the issues carers face?

Some of you may remember the Changing Lives project. We have secured funding through the European Social Fund to run Changing Lives again and can now offer additional support to carers who are hoping to return to work or learning.

If you’re 18 to 65, unemployed, or working less than 8 hours a week, this project will give you the chance to sit down and plan a course of action.

Joining a class or learning something new is a great way to socialise and meet new people... and there may be more out there than you think - from photography to learning a language, computer skills to cake icing.

Let us help you:

* find a course that fits around your caring role - how about distance learning?
* find out about classes or leisure activities
* find ways of balancing your caring role with work or training
* find out about your rights as a working carer>

You might want to find out about courses to help you update your skills or build confidence, or to get help with a CV or techniques for interviews or job search. (Do you know where to look for jobs online?!)

If you’re not sure what you want to do, why not try Adult Directions? This is a piece of software which generates career ideas based on your interests. It’s available on a laptop so you don’t need internet access at home! Don’t worry if you’re not used to using a computer, we will guide you through it.

We will help you explore ideas and options, so whether you're looking for a 1 hour session in flower arranging or a full time university course - get in touch. We'll get you on the right track and support you in your caring role at the same time.
