Our application to the BIG lottery was successful and we have been given funding for 4 years to support Young Adult Carers, 18-35 years. Our new workers, Jodie Peckitt will be providing support and advice to this group of carers and Neil Daniel offering social activities. More information to follow. See the Young Adult Carers project page [here]
We received 2 year funding from North Yorkshire County Council Community Fund to offer specialist support and advice around employment and learning to Young Adult Carers. Gina is taking the lead on this work.
The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation has awarded us a 2 year grant to work with carers and families supporting someone with drug or alcohol issues. This work is supported by the Cambridge Centre and will include information and support sessions and opportunities for carers to meet together. See the 'Drugs and Alcohol' project page [here]
Part of our work involves campaigning in support of carers and making sure that issues affecting carers are raised in all the right places. We do this by supporting carers to participate at strategic meetings and events, or by encouraging carers to provide feedback through answering surveys, responding to consultations or attending forums.
In this way we ensure local carer voices are heard and carer issues and experiences are recognised and taken into account when services are developed or reviewed.
If you are interested in being involved, then do contact us to discuss what is on offer through our Giving Carers A Voice Project and the sorts of things you could get involved in.
Your views matter so however much or little you can contribute we would welcome your involvement.
