Responsibility for managing the organisation lies with our voluntary Board of Trustees. EachTrustee is both a Trustee of the Charity and a Director of the Company. We can have a maximum of 12 Trustees. It is very important that current or former carers make up a significant proportion of the Board. Trustees might be able to offer particular skills or experience in communitywork, health or social services, finance, law, business management, public relations, etc. Trustees are entitled to claim expenses relevant to the role, such as travel or care costs.
The Board meets 6-8 times a year and elects its own Chair, Vice Chair and Treasurer. Elections to the Board are held at the AGM in October each year. Trustees are also able to co-opt any potential Trustee at anytime during the year, but that person must then be nominated and elected at the next AGM.
Our Board of Trustees are:
Chairman
Duncan Webster OBE JP
Rodney Wood
Brian Shackleton
Sian Balsom
William Black
An important part of the Carers Resource team are the members of our Volunteer Group. They play an indispensible role in the functioning of our organisation with their involvement in administrative tasks, fund raising and awareness raising.
The group provides an oportunity to meet with and make new friends and at the same time make a valuable contribution to the well being of the caring community in our Scarborough and Ryedale area. Learn more about our volunteers and perhaps become one yourself... [more]
We are an independent, non-profit making organisation. Our main source of funding is through a contract with the North Yorkshire and York PCT and North Yorkshire Adult and Community Services. We also have variable funding from a range of other Trusts and organisations. Donations from individual carers and members are always very welcome.
Scarborough and Ryedale Carers Resource is an independent registered charity no.1046228 regulated by the Charity Commission. We are also a Company limited by guarantee and therefore also comply with Companies House regulations.
Scarborough and Ryedale Carers Resource promotes the rights
and encourages the recognition of all those with caring responsibilities by:
Providing advice, information and support to individual carers
Campaigning in support of carers
Encouraging professionals to work in equal partnership with carers
Identifying and reaching out to new and presently unidentified carers
Managing our affairs efficiently, effectively and economically
to ensure best outcomes for those we support and those who support us.
